Welcome to NAPTOSA, Gauteng Province

NAPTOSA, the second largest union in the education sector, was registered by the Registrar of Labour Relations as the Trade Union on 1 November 2006. Furthermore, .

NAPTOSA enjoys all the rights of a trade union and operates within the National ELRC under the name of the Combined Trade Unions (CTU), called CTU – ATU. The Provincial Autonomous Teachers’ Unions (ATU) consist of NAPTOSA (the corresponding party), NATU, PEU, PSA and SAOU.

NAPTOSA is the only education sector union that is truly representative of the demographics of South Africa. Its strength lies in the diverse backgrounds of its members, bound by a common commitment to professionalism and to educating the youth of South Africa.

NAPTOSA Gauteng 2019 Long Service Awards

NAPTOSA Gauteng will again recognise long service by its members (both teachers and PS staff) by awarding certificates during 2019 for service up to the end of 2018.  Members who become eligible to receive a Long Service Certificate from NAPTOSA Gauteng will be invited to attend a function at which these certificates will be presented.  The Awards Ceremony is scheduled to be held during March 2019.

Certificates will be awarded for service to education of 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 or 45 years (not necessarily continuous service).  Please note the following:

  • A certificate may be awarded when one of the milestones 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 or 45 years of service to education has been reached.
  • Certificates at the 2019 ceremony will only be awarded for one of the milestones as indicated above.
  • Every member, (teachers and PS staff), is eligible to apply.
  • A member who has already received a Long Service Award Certificate from NAPTOSA, will be entitled to receive a subsequent certificate when he or she reaches the next milestone.

Members who have reached one of the milestones by 31 December 2018 are invited to complete the application form (see below) and return it to NAPTOSA Gauteng by Friday, 8 February 2019.  Please note that members should only submit a form if they reached or exceeded the exact number of years of service during 2018 AND have not received a previous certificate for that same number of years.  However, members who have not previously received a Long Service Award from our Union should mark the box which represents the most recent milestone that they have reached or passed.
