Self-Awareness Strategy: “Get to Know Yourself Under Stress.”
You can’t manage what you don’t understand about yourself. Understanding how stress influences how you think, learn and process information can be a tremendous benefit for you to manage yourself more effectively during stress. Your mind and body have their own unique languages. Through these mental, emotional and physical cues, your mind and body tells you when it’s time to attend to the, how stressed you are and when to take a break. Notice when you feel distracted, have trouble concentrating or feeling that you are losing control. You may find that stress upsets your stomach, while others may be prone to headaches, feeling depressed, or back pain. Listening to these languages can provide you with accurate self-awareness. Let it serve you, and listen to your body’s cries for attention. Notice these signals, and recharge your mental and emotional battery. The following recharge strategy may serve you well if you repeat this four times each day:
“Put a Mental Recharge Into Your Daily Schedule.”
Get up and stretch every now and then. Try moving to a standing position from a sitting position in a chair without using your hands. Do this slowly ten times in a row or more if your health permits. You will notice that this will elevate your heart a bit and get you breathing more deeply. It will give your brain an oxygen boost and allow for a bit of movement on days when you feel stressed.
